Jxta-based Mobile Devices, Instant Messaging System

Peer to Peer is a populated network model. P2P improves disadvantage which C/S and B/S model depend on excessively server. JXTA is a set of open and current P2P protocols. JXTA allows any device connected to a network, such as a mobile device, a PDA, a PC, a server, can be designated as a peer to communicate and cooperate with other peers in JXTA network. Although JXTA allows any device to join in network, peers in P2P network are mostly computer. This paper proposed a solution to put the wireless mobile devices to the peer network, then the wireless devices can exchange instant message with other peers in JXTA network.JXTA provides fundamental API for developer of P2P system. JXME is a P2P platform based on J2ME devices and JXTA,and provides fundamental API for wireless device to join in JXTA network and communicate with other peers in JXTA network.The paper develops an instant message system based on JXME.The paper introduces basic knowledge about P2P and J2ME,and researchs deeply to JXTA,and develops a communicate implementation between J2ME peer and JXTA relay,and lastly develops implementation of instant message system on mobile device.
