IPv6 is certainly to replace of IPv4 and to become the mostly internet protocol.Moreover, with our society's development, the applications of embedded system have been wider and wider, and embedded system has made people's life more convenient. Currently it is widespread to use IPv4 protocol in embedded system. And it is very significant to use IPv6 protocol in embedded system in future.On researching characteristics of embedded system and IPv6 protocol, it is studied mainly how to make complicated TCP/IPv6 variable for embedded system.The great amelioration of IPv6 is on the network layer compared to IPv4, thus the network layer of IPv6 will be studied significantly. For the use of embedded system, extreme header of IPv6 protocol is not implemented. Furthermore, only two protocols-TCP protocol and ICMPv6 protocol will be sustained by IPv6 protocol. IPv6 protocol is responsible to estimate datagram category and to pack the segments from the upper layer. ICMPv6 protocol realizes two essential functions, one is to send out corresponding neighbor advertisement message to responds to neighbor solicitation message for resolving self IP address to its MAC address, the other is to send out echo reply message to respond to echo request message for test network connectivity.
