| The competition of computer industry has been esclating, particularly in products, technology, and service. Now, the competition in specifications enjoys being a focus for the businessmen and manufactures of computer (the battle over JAVA ,for example). Whoever produces the specification of a certain field will naturally take a leading role in it. At present, the businessmen and manufactures at home are not capable of creating a specification in a certain field , which means that we have to master specification as son as possible in order to avoid the fate of being lagged behind. We regard it our goal to emulate the advanced and become better than them.ACPI(Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) is a new specification created jointly by Microsoft, Intel , and Toshiba at the end of 1996.This specification defines advanced configuration and power management interface. This thesis intends to introduce this specification and present a part implementation in detail in aspects of learning , study and application.ACPI aims to make Operating System implement the function of configuration and power management, which is done by BIOS at present. Since BIOS is limited by its role and space, the increasingly complex configuration and power management algorithm are not likely to be done within it. On the other hand, they can be easily done in Operating System. This thesis detailedly introduces the concept of ACPI, the software and hardware models of ACPI, the interface of resources configuration defined in ACPI ,objects ,methods of resources configuration. It introduces the system state ,device state, and processor state defined in ACPI, and the transfer relations between these states , including the methods and objects of controlling them. It also introduces the interrelationship between the BIOS ,Operating System and hardware in ACPI platform and their mechanism . Eventually ,it presents describing languages ASL,AML, their relationship ,and their mechanism , which are employed in implementing the objects and methods in ACPI.On the basis of studying ACPI, the author implements partly... |
