| The content of this paper is based on the work done by the author in designing and implementing the risk analysis system based on the Microsoft Excel workbook. The basic theory and methods of modern risk analysis are introduced and the general method for implementing the risk analysis on the computer by simulation is described. In the kernel part of this paper, the design of the Excel based risk analysis system is given in detail. The advantages of using Excel as modeling tool in foreground is described, and the problems encountered by using Excel as OLE automation sever at the same time is listed as well. These problems include the retrieval and storage of the models in Excel worksheets, the communication between Excel and the main program of the system, the synchronization of Excel recalculation with the simulation process in the main program, the sharing of sample data between Excel and the main program. The solutions to these problems developed by the author are presented in the paper. |
