Library Development History Of The 20th Century Pre-shandong Province

Shandong library was set up in 1909. it is one of the ten most oldest comprehensive common libraries in china. It has a long history and contributes to the reference resourses. The paper studies the history of Shandong library in detail based on how Shandong library came into being and developed with the advent and development of western culture, and at the same time, how western missionaries' introduction about the western library system had an important effect on the development of Chinese library. The author looks forward to the future of Shandong library, according to the development of the latter-day library.The paper focuses on the library in the Republic of China era. Through collecting the relevant reports, file data and so on, we introduce the historical process of the 20th century library system, and the library in the Republic of China era had an important role in the whole history of the library.The paper consists of the four aspects:First, the characteristics of the ancient library and the backup of the latter-day library are depicted through the analysis and reseach of the development for the ancient library.Second, Shandong library in the early 20th century included three phases: the begining phase(1909-1939), the growing phase (1929-1937), and the war phase(1937-1948). Each phase had the diferrent characteristic.Third, some peope who played a very importat role in the history of Shandong librarys'development.Forth, we will adequately illustrate the reference resourses of Shandong library of the early 20th century.
