In military application and industry control, there may be some kinds of field-bus devices, which support different standards and have different attributes, equipped at the different time and environments. Although an international standard about field-bus has been made, the field-buses can not be unified because they use the different network technology. Due to the reasons mentioned above, many kinds of field-buses are found in one application system at a time, and it's harder than before to develop and maintain such kind of systems. The developers and maintainers have to think about two important problems, interoperation among the certain kinds of field-buses and uniform access interfaces to shield the heterogeneity and simplify the procedure of development and operation.In order to implement the interoperation of the field-buses and supply the uniform access interfaces for the users so the heterogeneity of the different field-buses can be shield, the real-time fieldbus integrative network based on ACE (Adaptive Communication Environment) and TAO(The ACE Orb) is researched. ACE is not only a well designed host infrastructure middleware but also an object-oriented framework and toolset. It implements the core distributed patterns, helps the communication software development get the flexibility, efficiency, reliability and portability. TAO is a real-time ORB which is based on the real-time CORBA and ACE, provides effective, predictable services and end-to-end QoS (quality of service).For the mission of the field-bus integrative network, firstly, a method of protocol conversion is designed so that various kinds of field-bus protocols can be converted to each other. Secondly, the way of transmitting them by Ethernet is also researched for the combination of field-bus and Ethernet has become a trend. Thirdly, discuss a method to supply the uniform interface and some techniques to gain the real-time characteristic. The system has the capability of real-time scheduling because it is based on the TAO's scheduling service, and furthermore, the system's scheduling model is depict. Last, based on the research work mentioned above, the IU server and client application software are partly developed. For the reason of based on ACE & TAO, the system inherits the advantages they already have. Compared with the conventional devices, it is not limited to one-to-one conversion, and independent of the object location, programming language, OS platform and communication protocols, so that the users can develop their applications, regardless of the heterogeneous field-buses programming.
