Based San Storage Management Software Design And Realization

A new network storage technology-SAN (Storage Area Network) provides good resolution for the increasing requirement of information storage and management and becomes the ideal administrative and applied mode for its natural advantage in many aspects. However, the management of SAN is still a big headache for users, and the administrative cost holds a large proportion in storage system. So it is the importance of the management of SAN that is gradually realized by people.In this background, the writer took part in the development of large SAN management software—SSM (SAN Storage Manager). This software realized lots of functions of SAN's administration and realized the concentration of the administration. Furthermore, the software had strong ability on monitoring, had the functions of fault recovery, data replication/snapshot and file administration, etc. The major accomplishment during the procedure of the research and application is:1. For multi function modules, SSM realized the function of concentrated administration. This made system management became effective, decreased the cost of management, and enhanced the flexibility of system.2. Analyzing different cases of system software fault, author realized the function of fault recovery. This made the SSM can recover from disaster automatically without administrator's interference, and need not interrupt services.3. Realized the function of the concentration of parsing and administration of user's configuration information. This made complexity of configuration management decreased.4. Analyzing difference of different platform, author realized the simulation of signal mechanism by multi-thread in Windows NT platform.5. Realized the command queue function. The data structure of command queue is designed. This made SSM can deal with command effectively when system is busy.Now the development of the SSM system has been accomplished and the system has passed the function test, performance test and the third party test. The system works well and has a good performance.
