As we all know, Shearer is one of the most important equipments used in the underground mine production. Its running condition has a direct impact on the production and security of the whole mine. However, most Shearers presently used in our country have low level of modernization, low digging efficiency. Thus, it is necessary that we monitor the Shearer.In recent years, with the the application of the information technology on the mine has got a great achievement. More and more embedded software/hardware products have been developed with the feature such as minimization, networking and real-time. It has become an infallible tendency to develop digital Shearer Monitoring system. Because embedded technology product is small, high reliable, cheap and costs few energy, it fits the digital Shearer Monitoring System very well. Transplanting embedded database to the embedded system platform and the developing the application program could not only monitor the Shearer, but also fit to those design requirements of Digital Shearer Monitoring System, such as large quantity, high speed and high reliability.In a simple word, embedded database is a computing model to support the data management system, which is usually associated with operating systems and specific applications, and operate in intelligent embedded devices. And compared with the traditional one, embedded memory database occupies fewer resources, lower overhead system, and application closely integrated with the characteristics of good flexibility. This paper points out the basic requirement of the Shearer Monitoring System, and then, based on the needs and characteristics of the embedded database and related concepts of embedded Shearer Monitoring System, this paper makes a research on the characteristics of the SQLite Database and the adaptability of Shearer Monitoring System. And has introduced the basic conception of SQLite database and operation of basic function.On the basis of the above analysis and discussion, this paper combined the project of "research on key technologies of automation system in electric-haul shearer" , makes a research on the embedded database of the Shearer Monitoring System which is based on Redhat Linux9.0 and SQLite embedded systems software. It has been analyzed with the development trend that the thesis controlled the technological current situation the mining machine, to research and choice of embedded system and embedded database technology. This papers presented a design of monitoring system structure, function analysis, data storage model, Shearer Monitoring System, embedded real-time database system design and data storage model. And then this paper carries out a discussion of data synchronization and data disaster recovery of the database.At the end of this paper, I has done the work summary for the research of this paper, and pointed out the follow-up work of the design and the key issues to be resolved.
