| With the development and popularization of information system application, scale of data center is developing rapidly. With global energy crisis and people's increasing consciousness of environment protection and energy saving, it is being realized that the impact of large scale data center on environment cannot afford to be ignored. According to an investigation report by UK government, by year 2010, energy consumption from office equipments will make up 30% of energy consumption of the whole society and of this 30%, 65% will be from IT equipments. U.S. Environmental Protection Bureau released another research report in Aug. 2007. The report mentioned that servers and data centers consumed about 61 billion kilowatt-hours in 2006, which was 1.5% of total power consumption in U.S., and equaled to about US$ 4.5 billions.In the attempt to give some suggestion to this issue, after extensive research on related theory and many years' practice experience of my own, the paper will first explore the planning method of large-scale data center, and then introduced a virtualized structure, the modulized planning method suitable for data center's development trends, setting planning goal, principle, framework and detail process. Later, IT machine planning, computer room planning and system management planning, design operation proposal and flow are also given in application cases.The main structure of the paper is as follows.Chapterâ… presents the importance of large scale "green" data center planning, latest status of research in China and abroad and study content and structure of this dissertation.Chapterâ…¡focuses on the large scale green data center's basic concept, trend and the research on whole planning, creative virtualized structure and modulized planning method.Chapterâ…¢to Chapter V analyze IT machine planning, computer room planning and system management planning, and give detailed operation proposal and operation flow.Using case study, Chapterâ…¥presents the real-life application of the above planning method.The last chapter summarizes the whole research and also proposes the future research direction on this topic.The paper's research provides both systematic method and detail operation guide for large scale green data center. It explores the virtualized structure, modulized planning method, which is an innovation. It will provide reference and practice instruction to improve the energy-saving performance of large-scale data centers. |
