Light-based technology is one of the important indicators which determine the performance of the air communication node technology. Air communication node technology is the key technology of modern information war. The advancement of this technology affects the battle effectiveness directly, so it is urgently needed for the military. The Lightening of air communication equipments gains the main attention recently. MEMS technology which has been developed during 1990s provides a new direction for the lightening of air communication equipments. One of the most important application fields of MEMS technology is used for radio frequency communication, MEMS technology can integrate the current difficult integrated discrete devices to a lighter, thin, small chip system. MEMS technology can integrate microstrip antenna with RF-MEMS switch,RF front-end, thus reducing the size of the system to achieve the purpose of air communication node lighter. Using MEMS in the field of microstrip antenna has become a new developing field which will have a broad prospect. Compared to traditional forms of processing microstrip antennas, RF-MEMS antenna which has been produced by fair using MEMS combined with microelectronics and precision processing technologies have unique advantages in geometry, function, physical performance, price and many other areas, which will be the inevitable trend of future technology development. The issue based on the military pre-research project of the'11th five years'plan'air communication node technology', designed L-band microstrip antenna based on X and C-band. L-band frequency range is 1 GHz -2GHz, the center frequency of microstrip antenna designed in this paper is 1.9GHz. The silicon-based microstrip antenna with 1.9GHz center frequency and larger than 80MHz bandwidth which works on L-band has been designed use the classical theory and formula in this paper.Compared to C-band and X-band, the biggest problem of L-band is the size designed according to rectangular microstrip antenna relatively large for the small frequency, so miniaturization is the main work of L-band microstrip antenna. In this paper, miniaturization of microstrip antenna has been processed in a meandering way, two kinds of different ways of meandering stream model have been designed, then their simulation have been compared, and finally the silicon-based L-band microstrip antenna element based on MEMS has been designed using the combined technology of meandering and pin loading. The size of designed L-band microstrip antenna element has reduced to 18% of the original size, and the patch size reduced to 16%. Based on the design of microstrip antenna radiation element, according to the requirements of the project, the paper has calculated the required number of microstrip antenna arrays, analyzed the feed network of the microstrip antenna array, and finally designed 2 * 2 microstrip antenna array. After HFSS simulation, the designed antenna array can meet the project's requirements.
