Radio Frequency Identification (RFID, or Radio Frequency Identification) technology is with the use of radio-frequency approach to non-contact two-way communication, in order to achieve identification purposes and to exchange data, a kind of automatic identification technology. It has been widely used in many services industry, manufacturing companies, logistics and goods flow systems. Thereare four main frequency bands: LF, HF, UHF and microwave for RFID applications. Antennas are well known as a key factor of the affecting for RFID system performance. Based on its number of advantages, microstrip patch antennas are widely used in reader antenna of RFID system, however, because it's resonant structure, at a lower frequency use, the antenna size usually can not meet the requirements. The use of existing microstrip antenna miniaturization measures designed antenna even though it can meet the requirements in size, but with a poor performance on radiation or a smaller bandwidth, it is difficult to meet the RFID systems. Therefore, the design of compact high-performance microstrip patch antenna to meet the requirements of RFID systems has become a worthy research topic.Electric-wall technology is a new type of microstrip antenna miniaturization technique. It can ensure that the antenna has good radiation performance at the same time reducing the antenna size. This paper's main task is the design, optimization and process testing of compact high-performance microstrip patch antenna for the reader antenna of the UHF band RFID reader antenna system. The main contribution of this paper and innovative point can be summarized as follows:1. Electric-wall technology made such a new program to design compact high-performance microstrip antenna.2. With the use of electric-wall technology, several antennas to meet the requirement indicators of the UHF-band RFID system reader antenna have been designed. The designed antennas have good indicators in their operating frequency range. Improved electric-wall technology in the engineering means of achieving through the metal-off-hole technology.3. It has designed a compact high-performance microstrip antenna array, to use in RFID entrance guard's system to achieve an aslant-pointing radiation pattern. It has received good results.4. It has done some theoretical analysis on the Electronic-Wall-Cavity-Patch.
