Solid-state transmitter is a key subsystem of the radar system. In this thesis, four key aspects in an 8mm waveband solid-state radar pulse transmitter are analyzed and designed:(1) RF performance(2) Electrical performance(3) Mechanical structure(4) Heat dissipation and cooling systemThe content of this thesis is organized as follows:First, to ensure the transmitter to reach the required output power, the following works were conducted: (1) selecting the appropriate MMIC; (2) designing the power divider/combiner passive components; (3) choosing the appropriate micro-assembly processes. All of the works above were discussed in detail.Second, according to the limitation of the provided electrical power, a DC/DC power supply and a capacitor change-discharge circuit were designed, which ensure the electrical power requirement for the radar transmitter to work under the given pulse parameters. And the protection circuit for the GaAs MMIC, the status detection circuit of the amplifier blocks and the communication control circuit were also designed, fabricated and tested.Third, accordance with the size, weight and anti-seismic restriction of the transmitter, the structure of the transmitter was optimized. The passive waveguide components were designed and optimized to satisfy the above limitation. At last, the heat dissipation of the transmitter are analyzed and designed. The work conducted in this thesis has engineering reference value for the millimeter wave radar transmitter design in the future.
