The construction industry contributes a great deal to National Economy. The ebb and flow of the construction industry influences millions of families. According to the government, the construction industry will maintain the growth rate of 15% each year during the next National Twelfth Five-Year Plan period. Engineering service business, a newly style business, is a business in a segment market of the construction industry, which will soon get a golden opportunity of development.This article is a research on Company A, by using relevant strategic management theories and tools, such as PEST Analysis, Michael Porter’s Five Forces Model, Michael Porter’s Value Chain Mode, ECIRM Strategic Model, and SWOT Analysis Matrix. The research reveals the over-all matched competitive strategy of the company, through the in-depth analysis on the macro-environment of the construction industry, and a thorough look on the inner and outer factors. Furthermore, the article gives an explanation about the strategy from the point of view of the Company, the Divisions and the Functional Departments.Firstly, the author analyses the opportunities and threats that appear in the construction companies. Then the author analyses the strengths and weaknesses of Company A. By the use of SWOT Analysis Model, the author gives a fixed conclusion that Company A applies Related Diversification & Differentiation Focus strategies. That is, Company A’s business is a combined business combination, consists of PROJECT MANAGEMENT, LABOR SERVICE & SKILLS TRAINING. These three business models help to bring about the synergy of all divisions.Finally, the author points out the key points when the Competitive Strategy is undertaken.
