In the twenty or thirty’s of twentieth Century, the capitalist economy in Shanghai developed, and the consumption in Shanghai has an irreplaceable role. The progress of the human society is in the process of satisfying the increasing material and spiritual needs. To meet the needs of material growth, in the production and development of the premise, it is necessary to have a part of people’s consumption level higher than the times, leading the fashion. Luxury consumption is an inevitable phenomenon in the process of meeting the needs of the material. This article through the study of Shanghai luxury consumption in this period, reveals the twenty or thirty’s Shanghai people’s consumption concept and consumption behavior, and analyzed the effects on the society at that time.Types of luxury and 30 s of the 20th century can be roughly divided into x (i.e., alcohol and tobacco) and b a luxury luxury goods (luxury) two large categories, luxury spending huge sums. Induced in the commercial activities, worship ethos, upper-class demonstration, and the influence of social public opinion guidance under the joint action of various factors, such as Shanghai luxury consumption wind intensified, for the social, economic and culture has produced a certain influence. On the basis of the study, this paper provides some enlightenment to today’s luxury consumption market.Shanghai in the twenties and thirties of the twentieth century society of luxury consumption, which is different from the feudal society of extravagance and popular learning, it is capitalist commodity economy as the foundation, in advocate bourgeois developed. Therefore, it for the moral and ethical concepts of traditional Chinese society the impact, broaden our horizons, changed the concept of consumption, and guide the structural productivity change, improve the life level of the whole society, promote social change.
