HSBC is one of the most famous banks in this world, owning more than one hundred million customers in the world. Banking business covers personal finance service, commercial banking, investment banking and private banking.Our case is showing that to cater for the group strategy of HSBC in Pearl River Delta(PRD),HSBC Global Technology Center launched a new project named VTM(Victual Teller Machine).While project did not run smoothly and during the execution of VTM project, project team encountered lots of issue, such as project work redo, progress delay, budget overrun, customer complaint etc. What’s more, management team felt disappointed about this project and put it into“Red List”. Our case will picked up the most typical stories for our discussion from project scope;project progress and project cost level, and dig into them to find out the root cause and solution.In case study part, we will apply project management methodologies, including Work Breakdown Structure(WBS), Gant chart, Earn Value analyses etc, to find out the root cause of project failure and also the solution. From this part, we can find out how to make use of Earn Value analyses methodologies for project performance monitor, and also how to rectify project.It is believed it is valuable for those who work as IT project manager and also who work in project manager office(PMO).
