A Comparative Study Of The County Economy

County economy is one of the main components of Chinese national economy. The growth of county economy will directly influence the growth of the national economy. The paper chooses the two bordered county town in Nanjing City —Gaochun and Lishui as the researching object, which both locate in the economically developed area in Yangtz River Delta. The two towns have many similarities in natural environment , economy and social development, while also keep their own characteristics. Under the guidance of the theory of regional economy and sustainable development theory, compared the two town's economy status, the paper analyses the reasons forming the gap of development and advances the main influencing factors. Through the research of these factors, the paper explores the sustainable development mode of the county economy and builds up strategy of the economy development.Compared the economy developing process of two towns, the paper discovers many similarities in their developing tracks. The economic development process can be divided into 3 periods: slow development period during 1949-1978, stepping period during 1978—1992 and the rapid development period from 1992 to this day. In the first and second periods, their economy developing status is closed, with little differences between economy strength and growth rate; While in the third period, the difference between two towns is more and more expanding, which shows on GDP, per capita GDP and the growth rate, the standard of living, infrastructure project and the level of urbanization, etc.By the comparative analysis of the natural resources, economic foundation (including economic structure) and economic policy of the two county, the paper gets a conclusion: The gap is originated from multi-reason such as different natural resources, different economic foundation and different economic policy ,and so on. Among them, the natural resources and economic foundation are the premise factors of forming this kinds of gap, while the different economic policy is the main factor for changing the gap structure.The paper put forward: The future development of the two counties should take the characteristic agriculture as the growth point and follow the mode of developing the high quality agricultural product base. After getting a certain effect, the mode can be changed into developing high-leveled outskirts of town service. At last, The paper raises strategic goal, strategic emphases that can encourage sustainable development and provides countermeasures on economic restructuring, scientific and technological progress, infrastructure, and economic cooperate between the two counties.
