Baotou Iron and Steel (Group) Co., ltd. (hereinafter called Baogang in short), which was built in 1954,was one of the largest iron & steel union in china. Fifty years has past and it has built up complex production system including mining, sintering, coking, iron making, steel making, rare earth, under the support of both central and local government. Now it has seven million tons iron and steel producing ability ,the main products are HRC, seamless pipe, large section steel, small size wire rod and bar, steel strips. In the past every history stages it has contributed a lot to the economy construction and society development of our country.In recent years, Baogang has lagged behind other steel enterprises because of the slow technique reform. Products are uncompetitive; it is facing severe market competition. In order to meet the marketing economy requirement, it is doing large scale technique reform and will realize management information and scientific decision modernization. Production planning is one of the most important part of production management and can contribute more to the bettering of production structure, it also can promote the enterprise competitive ability and increase enterprise profit.The thesis focus on the bettering of steel products structure of Baogang through analysis of the development of steel industry, the outer circumstances, the inner condition, the products differences with other steel enterprises, for that it can guide the further investment of Baogang and it can build up fine products strategy.
