With China 3G business applies coming, to China telecom operation companies, how will they start 3G businesses, how will they win in the 3G competition ? To resolve these problems , telecom operation companies have to make a strategic plan according to their own demands. The intending 3G competition will be more intense than 2G competitions. Telecom operation companies who want to win the market must prepare ahead of schedule.A value chain analysis was advanced by Michael. E. Porter in 1985. It analyzes an enterprise through putting the enterprise into the whole industry value. The enterprises who don't want to lose the market must have their own core competitive advantages. It can create either the value at a lowest cost, or an unparalleled value.This paper introduces the concept and meaning of the value chain and tells us how to analyze the value chain, which based on China Telecom Group (CT) . It analyzes the 3G value chain and compares CT with other telecom companies in 3G market. Then it gets the 3G strategy choice of CT and practice plan. As an emphasis and innovation, this paper make a detail analysis about the 3G strategies of CT and give a plan to put it into practice.
