PAT (shanghai) is a subsidiary of PAT corporation, producing and selling the products forfiltration and separation. The Industry Department of PAT (shanghai) has achieved remarkablesuccesses in the past 10 years, based on the good performance of products and the rapiddevelopment in metallurgy trade.Starting from 2004, some projects had been canceled by the central government inmetallurgy trade due to the energy source shortage. PAT (shanghai) has consistently attachedimportance to the customers in mechanical equipment trade, which is characteristic of low cost.The Industry Department of PAT (shanghai) is currently faced with a difficult situation because offierce competitors and cancellation of many projects. How to readjust and improve the sales andachieve the growth target of 30-40% according to the market conditions so as to further enhancethe core and distinctive competences becomes very important to the executives of the IndustryDepartment. In this paper, the author introduces the background of PAT (shanghai) and the IndustryDepartment, and analyzes the management mode and characteristic of product and developmentactuality. The author also discloses the conjunction in the development for the sales of IndustryDepartment through analyzing the foreground of industry and metallurgy trades. According to theanalysis of the basic conception of core and distinctive competences, the author discloses that the key tocontinued development is the innovation of technique, market and management. Furthermore, theauthor points out that the importance to continued development for the Industry Department of PAT(shanghai) is to find the new application of the products and technique and modify its currentdevelopment strategy, according to the analysis of the strengths and weakness. The solution is toreengineer the organizational structure, personal structure, production cost, sales strategy,invigorative system, information managing system, corporation culture so as to raise its core anddistinctive competences and realize its strategic objective of sustainable development.
