Since introduced into China in 90s of last century, microfinance has made rapid progress in our country. But among all the microfinance institutions of our country, there is no institutions which operate under commercial principles. Therefore, this article mainly focuses on the commercialization of microfinance institution in China. This article is trying to solve two problems. First, why our country need the commercialized microfinance institutions? Second, what are the characteristics of the commercialized microfinance institutions and how is the commercialized microfinance institutions operated on the basis of credit-manager mode?This article is divided into five chapters.The first chapter reviews previous studies of microfinance, including three parts: the definition of microfinance, the strategic objection of microfinance and the supervision for the provider of microfinance. The second chapter introduces some successful institutions of microfinance in the world, such as the Grameen Bank of Bangladesh, Bank Rakyat Indonesia Unit desa and the microfinance institutions of Latin America.The third chapter analyzes the development of our country's microfinance and finds that there is a large market demand for microfinance. In China, microfinance is regarded as a tool to help the poor and there are three types of microfinance institutions in china now. The first type is that which operated by None Government Organizations (NGOs). The second type is that which operated by governmental institutions and rural credit unions are the third kind of institutions that provide microfinance for the poor.
