Jiaodong Peninsula City Livable Study

The Jiaodong peninsula, a radiant pearl in the separatrix of Huanghai Sea and Bohai Sea, has the outstanding environmental superiority in human living. Doxiadis, the master on human settlements, proposed that the coastline of low elevation is the most "pleasant" place for living. Friedrich Ratzel regarded the temperate zone as the most suitable place for living. The Jiaodong peninsula is without doubt one of the superiority minority areas in our country. Certainly, there are many factors influencing urban human settlements, like the natural condition, the economic environment, and the society (humanities) environment, etc..This article constructs an urban human settlements index system based on the introduction of the theroy and practice of evaluation of domestic urban human settlements, and makes a quantification analysis to the suitable living capabilities of urban cluster in the Jiaodong peninsula using this system. As the contrast analysis, it makes a crosswise comparative analysis selecting Hangzhou and Ningpo city in Zhejiang Province, which has a famous reputation of "the heaven". Further more, this article makes a contrast analysis on the similarities of Italy and the Jiaodong peninsula in order to strenghen the understanding of the advantages of urban human settlements of the Jiaodong pemnsula.Using the SWOT analysis, the article analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of urban human settlements of the Jiaodong peninsula and proposes a strategic target to the sustaining development plan for the urban human settlements in the Jiaodong peninsula, that is to build the urban cluster in the Jiaodong peninsula into the most suitable living urban cluster in our country and an international technical service center and an international training base. It makes a "three-belt" plan to the cities in the peninsula: I belt, the living and the tour belt; II belt, the scientific, technical and service center belt; III belt, the manufacturing center belt. These three belts must be developed gradually to protect the perfect environment in this area. Meanwhile, this article proposes some suggestions about the urban construction of the cities in the peninsula: the transportation system should be developed to achieve the 2-hour life circle in the peninsula; an pleasant ecosystem for living, a university city using the scientific and technical personal superiority; a famous traveling site etc..
