On The Selection Of Operation Mode Of Insurance Intermediaries

The insurance intermediaries act as the bridge and link between the insurers and the insurants. They play an indispensable role in the insurance market. Although the insurance intermediaries do not enjoy a relatively long history in China, they evolve quite fast both in term of the scale and the scope of business. This paper believes that the insurance intermediaries in China have a very promising future. The industry should learn from developed countries in terms of their successful experiences, study the current situation and problems in order to select the appropriate and localized development mode for insurance intermediaries. The paper is structured into seven parts:The first part is the introduction. We discuss the reason that we choose this topic and the background of the paper. Moreover, we simply introduce the research methodology and define some concepts.The second part is the literature review. We study the point views of the previous researches on this area and focus on the strength and weakness of their studies. Only by that, we can find the starting points of our research.The third part is the economic analysis of insurance intermediaries. This part analysises the necessity and the problems of the insurance intermediaries by economic methods.The fourth part is the modes of the insurance intermediaries systems in developed countries and the experience that China can draw on. Based on the comparative analysis of the modes of Britain, America and Japan, we sum up the experience to which China can refer.The fifth part is how to select the modes of the insurance intermediaries systems in China in terms of life insurance and property insurance.The sixth part is the present situation of the development of the insurance intermediaries market, the existing problems and the causes of the problems.
