As fast developing of world economy and information technology, logistics becomes a new and fast developing service trade in china. Distribution center is the most important facility, it has functions of storage, sorting, delivery, etc. DC can use resource, human resource together, and can reduce supply chain cost farthest, can satisfy customer's more strictly requirement like more variety, less quantity, etc, it can also upgrade service level for customer. DC is the key point in supply chain, how to design a DC with less cost , high efficiency, practicability, and flexibility is the main tool for company to reduce cost and upgrade service level.A lot of researches indicate that, in DCs operation, sorting occupies 40% cost of DCs total cost, and the time sorting used occupies about 60% of total. And with the developing of customer's requirement, order is becoming small quantity and large variety, the requirement for picking system is more strict than before. So how to design reasonable picking policy is a very important thing for DC efficiency and service level. According to nowadays research status of sorting system designing, most of them are only qualitative analysis, and not use a measurable methods, theories have a large gap to use, there is not a whole planning method. In the planning phase of sorting system, we may face lot of data files, but don't know how to analyze it. This paper's purpose is solve the status that there is no method to follow in planning sorting system. This paper do a lot of research of sorting system's theory, and with the experience of some DC planning project I have done, summarized a method to partition picking models with picking units, and deeply analyzed every model's excellence , faults and suitable situation. In the base of this, use...
