Retail trade is an important industrial department in national economy. Under the conditions of market economy, Retail industry is directly related to economic development. Thus the competitiveness of retail industry has also become a concerning topic. Especially nowadays our country proposes speeding up circulation industry developing, enhancing circulation modernization level, this question appears very importantly. Henan wants to rises in the middle of China, getting an important leading role, similarly does not lose the retail trade health developing and the retail trade competitive ability promoting.The article revolves a center question of the status of Henan retail trade competitive ability in the middle area of China, first summarizing the relating research literature of retail trade competitive ability, then reviewing the general theory of the origin of industrial competitive ability, then union the characteristic of retail trade, Proposing the mean of retail industry competitive ability, analyzing each kind of factor which the retail trade competitive ability origins from, Namely the industrial Internal factors and the industrial external factors. The industrial interior factor includes industrial scale condition, market concentrating scale, industrial achievements and industrial technical level; External factors include development conditions of national economy, market capacity, regional traffic situation, regional logistics industry development, regional government support. On this foundation, the article designed the appraisal target system of retail industry competitive ability, dividing the retail trade competitive ability appraisal target into four parts, namely industrial scale target, industrial growth target, industrial benefit target and industrial ecology target. Then, gathering the related statistical dates of the middle six provinces about retail trades developing, the article uses the principal components analytic method and gathers analysis researching the retail trade competitive ability situation of Henan. Thereby, we can retain the main message of original variables, but also the information is irrelevant. Then, we hold mainly contradictory. The real diagnosis result indicates, the retail trade of Henan locating in the second level in middle six provinces, namely the retail trade of Henan has a stronger competitive ability, Prominently displaying in the industrial scale bigger and the industrial ecological environment better.Main cause is that Henan GDP is bigger and cousume level is higher and Hnan logistics is stronger .But comparing with developed province, Henan has a very big gap. Main cause is that contest is much harder in Henan and larger enterprises are scarely.The article finally proposes some suggestions about developing the retail trade of Henan. Namely she must expand retail industry scale and use modern information technology, vigorously developing modern logistics industry.
