The dissertation is a case study of the temple fair for the dragon king in Fei County, Shandong. In the past temple fair researches, taking the community rituals of temple fair as a corresponding point, researchers explained the symbolic meaning of temple fair, the important function on the approbation of the community and constructs the community order, but the important function of the temple and the spirit legend in the formation of faith and the community life were despised. This text will then take the Dragon king's legend spreading widely in Fei County as an oral inheriting manner of the traditional local Dragon king believes. Its intention lies in emphasizing the indivisible relationship between legend and language circumstance and the legend's function as a historic witness during the process of people's reconstruction of their believes, so as to reveal the sense of public legend and believes in people's living world, i.e., the local legend and the community rituals' mutual definition of the relationship between the spirits and the living world, and the construction of people's faith.The writer will make use of the countryside data gained by inquisition, with temple fair for Dragon king in Fee county, rely on the legend of "bald tail old Lee" , which spreaded extensively in Shandong province for background, by "deeply copy" of the legend of Dragon king and the history of the temple fair , study the interactive relation of legend, temple fair and small village life, analyse the interplays of believes, amusement ,economy, culture in the traditional small village.This paper consists of six chapters, including Introduction at the beginning of the paper and Conclusion towards its end.
