Service is playing an important role in manufacturing industry. Service team is being required to act for a multi-dimension role in a extensive range covering before sales service, after sale service and customer relationship management. It even become an independent business highlight to contribute remarkable sales order volume and margin, meantime exploring new business fields as a active and flexible organization. How to enforce service team to support sales, existing and established project? How to improve service efficiency? How to increase sales amount by exploring business fields? All come into a strategic formulation.In this article, Service in Siemens Power Plant Automation, ltd. will be given a full-view perspective, including Strategy review, marketing of service, operation of service, and corporate governance.SWOT, Pott's competition strategic analysis and BCG Growth-Share Matrix analysis are used for reviewing SPPA's environment and corporate objectives and strategy, therefore the strategy of service center department is formulated. Detail analysis covers market segmentation, purchase mode, customer cost structure, demand elasticity, purchase decision factor, technical environment innovation and service's product specialty. Based on those analysis and experience from succeed and failed practices, marketing policy for service is formulated.On the evaluation of service's task and specialty of service activities, SPPA's service processes are designed and established. Relevant management methods, including service's quality management, personnel development plan, human resource policy and project risk evaluation & control, which are necessary for ensuring success of service, are also introduced.
