Today,transnational operation has been one of the most important strategic choices of domestic enterprises,among which the small and medium-sized ones is playing more and more influential role in exporting.From the internationalization process theory and knowledge-based views,the experiential knowledge about foreign market is key source of competitive advantage of SMEs.Based on the two theories above,tbis paper attempts to discuss the relationships among social capital in SMEs,foreign market knowledge and exporting performance by focusing on the social caital between the SMEs and their foreign clients.The article uses the classic three dimensions,namely structure,relation and cognition,to analysis social capital,and the mutual impacts of them are discussed.This research targets in the exporting SMEs.The questionaries were mainly sent out by E-mail or filled in by senior managers of firms then and there.At last one hundred and eight vaild one were called back.The research processes the data using the software SPSS13.0.Through correlation and regression analysis,most hypothesises which are brought up from the conceptual model are testified.The major conclusions of this paper are as follows:Firstly,enterprise' social capital has significant positive impact on foreign market knowledge;Secondly,foreign market knowledge has significant positive impact on exporting performance;Lastly,there are significant mutual correlation between the three dimensions of social capital.
