Under global economic environment driven by digital technology and science and knowledge, change of consumers'demand model, challenge from economic globalization and tech and science fast development had brought the organizations a complicated, changing, uncertain environment. Thus, the key success factors of organizations has reverted from scale economy, clear responsibility, specialization and control to speed, flexibility, integration and innovation. Flat organizations, cross-functions team, process re-engineering, learning organization, virtual corporation, strategic alliances, network organizations has elaborated the organizational transform under the new environment from different angles. Due to the vagueness and permeableness of their boundary, they are named boundaryless organization.Economic analysis on organizational boundary has showed us that boundary can help organization to keep or maintain its efficiency and economic effectiveness under traditional economic environment. However, new emerged boundaryless organization is also the choice of companies under new economic environment to maintain their core competence. This paper uncover that environment change will affect organization boundary through the research on background, connotation, characteristics and building of the boundaryless organization. Boundary change must be linked with core competence and the economic effectiveness should be the final criteria to judge whether the organizational structure change is success or nThere are four parts in this paper.The first part focuses on economic analysis of the existence of organization boundary from the economic theoretical angle. The second parts analyze the change of the environment and discover that it is the substance cause of the emergence of the boundaryless organization. Boundaryless organization is the structural response to environment change. Through discussion over the building of boundaryless organization, the third part set economic effectiveness as the final standard of organization boundary change. An analytical framework including organization boundary, core competence and economic effectiveness is built in the fourth part. The usage of this framework is also discussed in this part.
