Traditional festivals of China, which coagulating our National spirit and patriotism and bearing the weight of our culture and civilization, are the precious resource of building the advanced Socialistic culture. The Mid-Autumn Festival, as a typical traditional Chinese festival, which assimilates the key ideas of Confucianism during the long history of its evolvement. Besides, the culture of Mid-Autumn affects the Confucianism with each other and then forms the everlasting theme of harmony, reunion and unification. However, there are few probes into the relationship between the culture of Mid-Autumn and the Confucianism for a long time. This thesis tries to tracing back to the process of the Mid-Autumn Festival's origin and evolvement, analyzing the meaning of the myth about moon, which would discover the new deep spirit of National thoughts further and enrich its value and connotation.Chapter one teaches us that the process of the Mid-Autumn Festival's development and evolvement. Mid-Autumn Festival, as we know, has a short history as a formal festival but appeared in the early period as an activity of fete. With the evolvement of this activity, the Mid-Autumn formed its basic characteristic in the Chu Country during the Zhan Guo times in ancient China. In addition to, with people in Tang Dynasty concerning more about the Mid-Autumn Festival's activity gradually,dominators of Song Dynasty announced that the Mid-Autumn Festival is a formal festival finally.Chapter two tells us the myths about moon and the meaning. Famous legends, such as Tang Ming Huang visiting the Palace of moon, Goddess in the moon, Wu Gang etc. symbolized that people adoring the Moon and chasing the wonderful life. What's more, these legends enrich the content of the Mid-Autumn Festival's culture and strengthen the Chinese nation's spirit of constantly strive to become stronger and reunion and harmony.Chapter three points out that the reunion and harmony are the everlasting theme of the Mid-Autumn Festival through analyzing the spirit of constantly strive to become stronger and reunion and harmony. With no doubt, these spirits would help us build a harmonious and unified country.
