The first five-star hotel of Yunnan province was established in Lijiang in 1996 and started business in 1998. Due to growing tourism market in Lijiang, there are now 4 five-star hotels, 10 four-star hotels and 39 three-star hotels in the city. As the tourism market continues to blossom, the market is ripe for further hotel development. Nowadays, succeeded corporation almost depended on strategic management. To win the market competition and provide investors with reasonable returns in the future, Lijiang International Hotel must study strategic management systematically.This paper includes three parts:Part one briefly describes the development trends of domestic and foreign hotels, describes strategic management research of hotel, including industry features, management features, hotel strategy and new management pattern.Part two is foundation analysis, mainly analyses the outside environment, the tourism market of Lijiang and the present situation of hotel industry. The author analyze the hotel's competitiveness by using the "five-force model of Porter". The hotel's internal condition are deeply analyzed in terms of marketing ability, financial strength, organizational efficiency, value chain, core competitive ability, etc. At last, the author use SWOT analysis method to reveal four selection strategies: SO strategy, ST strategy, WO strategy and WT strategy.Part three is the strategy of Lijiang International Hotel, including overall strategy, operation strategy, function strategy, development strategy. Finally, the author gives a detailed plan for implementing and controlling the strategy.
