On The System Of Asean Trade Policy And Implementation

Many developing countries have entered into new regional agreements, strengthened old ones, or investigated the potential for one. ASEAN is an example.This thesis first outlines the history of economic integration in ASEAN in the last 30 years.Secondly, it analyzes the impact of ASEAN's trading arrangements which are based on CEPT(the Common Effective Preferential Tariff Scheme), which aimed to achieve an ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA).Thirdly As the development of regional economic integration, ASEAN's mechanism becomes formal gradually.Fourthly, this thesis illustrates the trading arrangement, bilateral trading agreement, foreign investment regime of the major countries of ASEAN. Because as a FTA member , each country has its own trade arrangements.Lastly, it examines the obstacles and difficulties facing ASEAN in its endeavor to create a free economic zone of goods, services, capital and investments. it explores the strategy that ASEAN adopts to combat stiff competition from its neighbors and how this strategy impacts upon the future direction of ASEAN economic integration.
