Low resistivity hydrocarbon zone is the hydrocarbon layer which resistivity is equivalent to the resistivity of acquifer and the resistivity of surrounding rock. The hydrocarbon saturation of the zone is normally about or less than 50%, and the resistivity index(I) is smaller than 3. In these years, some low resistivity hydrocarbon zones which electric property show high water but outputs are considerable are discovered in some domestic oilfields. The prospect of the zone is tremendous, but the identification difficulty of it is also huge because of complicated geologic origin. The auther collected plentiful source materials and studied some literatures home and abroad. Then he carefully researched the cause of formation of the zone in shasan segment of qijia plat of huanxiling oilfield, and gave following viewpoint. The major causes of formation of the zone are the additional electroconductivity and complex pore structure of clay, and low hydrocarbon saturation of low amplitude light hydrocarbon reservoir. The deep intrusion of drilling mud caused by unreasonable construction work is the other factor. Through well logging and geological structure analyse, the interpretational criteria and discriminance of the zone on the target area was founded. Forecasting that potential reservoir bed piching out toward qigu 13 fault, and the reservoir bed is structure-lithology reservoir and is well sealed near qi 2-15-5011 fault and qi 2-15-5011 fault.
