Many nature or man-made networks which we often utilize are complex networks, such as communication network, computer netork, transport netork, social network, etc. In order to design and manage these complex networks, it is necessary to study and comprehend its characters, such as topology structure, run mechanism, dynamics action, synchronization ability, etc. The complex network reliability research is very important to understand network's topology and behavior. The reliability index of complex network, one part of the complex network research, is the base for evaluating the complex network reliability. This paper is divided into the following five parts.First of all, the background, present and research production in the study of complex network were introduced.Secondly, based on what have been studied before, the reliability index of complex network which is used for evaluating its reliability is built. The reliability index includes invulnerability, survivability, availability, and synchronism.Thirdly, the software used for evaluating the reliability of complex network is written in MATLAB. It includes that creating models of both ER network and BA network, simulating both random attack and choice attack to the network, as well as calculating the measure of reliability index, such as ratio of average shortest route, ratio of average clustering coefficient, and ratio of eigenvalue of coupled matrix. What we do in this section is the base for evaluating the reliability of complex network in the coming step.Fourthly, the reliability of modes of complex network is evaluated by analyzing the data of reliability index. Finally, this paper points out the disadvantages and further research direction.
