In this paper, four kinds of carboxylate Gemini surfactants was synthesized from 8 to 14 carbon carboxylic acid and tartaric acid, the chemical structure of the synthesized surfactant have been confirmed by IR and 1HNMR.Some bascic application test results indicate that four kinds of the carboxylate Gemini surfactants have low Critical Micelle Concentrtion, Gemini-14 has the lowest critical micelle concentration which value is 0.60×10-5 mol/L; With the increase of hydrophobic chain, anti-hard water, emulsification and foam capacity enhancement, all of them have shown a good surface activity, and can effectively reduce the oil-water interfacial tension, for three kinds of them at low surfactant concentrations (0.15 wt%), will be reduced to 10-2mN/m magnitude.The mixed system of Carboxylate Gemini with conventional non-ionic surfactant isn determinded by orthogonal experimental. The result show that the carboxylate Gemini surfactant and conventional non-ionic surfactant has a good synergistic effect, complex system can significantly reduce the oil/water interfacial tension. The system of Gemini-10 and Span-60 even to 10-5 mN/m magnitude.The complex system is used for the initial separation of the oil sand experiment, and four kinds of complex system indicate an bvious effect on oil sand separation, the wash oil rate of two kinds of system of which can reach 80% or more, has some potential applications...
