By using the water quality monitoring data of Liao River and multivariate statistical analysis in order to study the persistent pollutants comprehensivly, to find where they come and the share of pollution they have contributed to the Liao River.By using the Factor analysis to the six cnventional physical and chemical indicators of the twelve mnitoring sites in Liao River, we can come to a conclusion that 50%of the mnitoring sites is heavily polluted; it shows that the Liaohe River, especially the middle and lower reaches of its is heavily polluted; the major pollutants in the Liao River is BOD5,CODCr and NH4+-N, the potential source of pollutants is agricultural waste, industrial emissions which contains oxygen consuming organic pollutant and as the leading industrial enterprises of nitrogen emissions from waste water in agricultural processing.By using the Factor analysis to the eight heavy metal, we can come to a conclusion that the heavy metal pollutants in the mnitoring sites can be divided into two; one is copper, mercury, lead mixed pollution; another is cadmium and arsenic mixed pollution; the possible sources of pollutants is vehicle exhaust emissions, respectively, and related industries discharge untreated wastewater. The most polluted in Liao River is Sanhetun,Tongjiangkou, Zhuer mountain.By using the Factor analysis and the Multiple linear regression analysis to sixteen Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the eight mnitoring sites, we can come to a conclusion that According to concentration, Shuguang birdge>Zhaoquan River>Zhu'er mountain>Sanhetun>Mahu mountain>Fudedian>Xing'an>Hongmiaozi; the entire sections of PAHs in higher concentrations are as follows: phenanthrene, naphthalene, fluoranthene. the PAHs pollution in the mnitoring sites can be divided into three: one is The pollution of burning the petroleum and its refined products; one is the pollution of coal and biomass burning emissions; the other one is the pollution of oil emissions. The share rate of three pollution to the Liao River is 48.09%,44.19%,7.5%. The PAHs pollution in Liaohe River is mixed; the main pollution sources is combustion sources; the production of related industries near the Liao River pollution and domestic pollution of nearby residents is the main reason leading to the contamination.
