High speed cutting has been widely applied in many contemporary manufacturing technosphere, High Speed Cutter is the core tool of high speed cutting. Traditional design of cutters requires lots of table searching, calculating, ploting, but low efficiency and long period of design. To change this situation, we have to improve the traditional method which used in developing cutter and absorb the advanced technology from foreign manufacture for research and development of high speed cutter.Our study has learned design theory of face milling cutters by analyzing the research at home and abroad. We have used UG NX6.0 as the Development Platform of CAD system. Combined with parametric design theory and the use of UG Secondary Development Tools, c# and Access database to develop CAD system of carbide alloy face cutter Based on UG. Through the use of UG Open/API function carries out driving and plotting of the cutter Parametric model, to achieve 3D parametric design of carbide alloy face cutter, utilize UG WAVE technology to attain system assembly and establish Parameter database of Corresponding parts.The contents of the research include:research and analysis the research status of domestic and foreign; introduce CAD system development platform, technical means and parametric design theory of carbide alloy face cutter, by analyzing the structure and design theory of face cutter, Establish carbide alloy face cutter structure model; using finite element software for simulation of disk cutter in order to make sure the effect of the specific parameters to processing performance. Complete carbide face cutter CAD system design and analysis and research the key technologies for system. Running instance showed that users through select and enter the appropriate parameters complete the carbide face cutter design parameters of the product easily and quickly, these in line with modern technology and development requirements.
