Pyridones, including pyridine and its derivatives, are important intermediates and raw materials in the pharmaceutical, food additions, and synthetic materials. According to the number of ketone carbonyl and the N position, pyridones are divided into pyridin-2(1H)-one, 4-pyridone,2,4-pyridone compounds, and they all have anti-bacterial and anti-tumor effects. pyridin-2(1H)-one is the intermediates of a variety of pharmaceutical. Obviously, pyridones take an important part in synthesis. The structure of a-oxoketene-S,S-acetals gives the diversity of chemical reactions of these compounds. In this paper, we design and synthesis pyridin-2(1H)-ones, according to characteristics of a-oxoketene-S,S-acetals. This method is based on a-oxoketene-S,S-acetals and malononitrile as substrate. A facile and efficient one-pot synthesis of substituted pyridin-2(1H)-ones has been developed. The simple procedure, mild conditions, easy separation, high yields, and wide range of synthetic potential of the products makes this study much attractive.
