In the paper, the CaO-B2O3-SiO2(CBS) system glass-ceramics with ZrO2 and P2O5 as main nucleation agents were prepared by melting and crystallization method, and the optimum composition was determined. The crystallization heat treatment regime were worked out based on DSC results. According to X-ray Diffraction(XRD) analysis, we decided that the CBS system glass-ceramics with ZrO2 and P2O5 as main nucleation agents had the same main phase CaSiO3 and the same minor phase CaB2O4 and SiO2. The optical transmittances of the glass and glass-ceramics with two different kinds of main nucleation agents were measured by UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer. The best optical transmittance of the glasses was 85%. With the increase of crystallization heat treatment temperature and time, the optical transmittances decreased andeven lost transparency.Sm3+ doped CBS transparent glass-ceramics with P2O5 as the main nucleation agent were prepared. At the same time, its main phase CaSiO3 and the minor phase were determined based on X-ray Diffraction(XRD) analysis. Other studies show that with the difference of crystallization heat treatment temperature and time, the optical transmittances decreased obviously and the strength of the fluorescence spectroscopy grew noticeably.
