In this paper, the source/property/harm of polymer sludge and the treatment methods of oil sludge at home and aboard were introduced. The efficient and environmentally friendly chemical method was selected to separate the oil, water, mud-phase, and then recover the crude oil. In the experiment, the cleaning effect to polymer sludge of different types detergents were studied, and the relationship between the types of detergents and cleaning effect was inducted. The detergents'influence on the properties of polymer sludge was studied by the way of measuring the aqueous phase electrical conductivity, Zeta potential of oil droplets, droplet size distribution and oil-water interfacial tension. The stability mechanism of polymer sludge and the detergents affection mechanism to polymer sludge were studied by artificial simulation experiment.The experiment indicated that the most optimal detergents were inorganic and non-ionic detergents, the second were anionic detergents, cationic detergents were the worst. By optimizing the cleaning conditions, the de-oil rate of ELI00 and Na2SiO3 could be up to 85.59% and 91.12%. The relevance between de-oil rate of different types detergents and their influence on polymer sludge properties was remarkable, the higher the de-oil rate, the slower the conductivity, the smaller the absolute value of Zeta potential, the greater the D(v,0.5), the lower the interfacial tension.The experiment of simulated polymer sludge indicated that the impact of solid particles and HP AM on the polymer sludge system stability was pronounced, while the PAC was weak. The de-oil orthogonal experiment of simulated polymer sludge suggested that the affection mode of different types detergents to simulated polymer sludge was different, giving rise to the different de-oil effect. The SEM,XPS,IR analysis showed that the strong stability of polymer sludge was attributed to the network precipitate made by the HPAM and PAC, while the network precipitate was connected by the chemical bond Al—O and N+—Cl. The non-ionic detergent EL100 could effectively break the chemical bond Al—O and N+—Cl, and then break the network structure, resulting in the decreasing of polymer sludge stability. The anionic detergent AES could increase the stability of polymer sludge slightly, the cationic detergent CTAB could remarkably increase the stability of polymer sludge.
