With the rapid growth of population and development of economy in China, the evironment problem has become the primary issue that affects socialist modernization and people's work and daily life. Air, water and soil polution has resulted in a decline of the quality of citizens' life. Therefore, it is of great significance to determine compounds in environmental samples and then prevent the absorption of harmful substances by human body.Using ion chromatography, three types of analytical methods for anions in environmental samples have been researched and hazards in three different environmental samples have been determined in this paper, with the following three aspects included:After a study on methods of determination of bromate and bromide ions in the water of Yellow River and tap water, as well as a study on sample pretreatment and optimization of chromatographic condition, the method of measuring bromate in tap water with large volume injection was determined. The detection limits were 2μg/L and 10μg/L with recoveries between 95.34% and 103.53%. This method has simple pretreatment, excellent peak shape, high sensitivity and has greatly improved analysis efficiency.Besides, an ion chromatographic method for simultaneous detection of acetate, monochloroacetate, chloride, sulfate and sulfite was established, and the separation conditions were optimized. By guard column AG9 and anion analysis column AS9, baseline separation of such five ions was achieved using 12 mM Na2CO3 as eluent. the LODs of five ions are 0.2,0.3,0.3,0.4 and 0.3 mg/L respectively, with recoveries between 97.35% and 97.5%.this method was applicated to determinations of the above five anions and the results showed that the established ion chromatography method could be used to determine various harmful anions simply,rapidly and accurately,which is of great significance to production control of chloroacetic acid and effluent treatment.Furthermore, method of sulfide analysis was researched and chromatographic condition was optimized. With 12mM Na2CO3:250mmol NaOH (96:4,v/v) as eluent, the separation was carried out on AS9 anion-exchange column and AG9 protection column at flow rate of 1.00 mL/min. In the concentration range of 0.2-40 mg/L, good linearity was obtained with R2 being 0.9980 and the RSD of peak area was 1.4%. The detection limit was 0.4μg/L and the spiked recovery was 96.17%. Results show that this method developed is applicable to the determination of S2- in the sample.
