Ozone disinfection technology is widely used in drinking water. But when bromideexists in the water,it will formate harmful bromate under the ozone oxidation.Bromate wasdecided as2B-class potential carcinogen by IARC. Bromate is usually very low levels indrinking water. This article reviews the most commonly used detection methods, includsElectrochemical analysis,CZE, Ion Chromatography and so on. For the detection of bromate, itneeds accurate, high sensitivity, low detection limit detection. In this paper,Ionchromatography-Post column derivatization to detect bromate has been studied. Thedevelopment of this method was based upon the work of several investigators:A volume ofsample, approximately225:L, is introduced into an ion chromatograph (IC) which includes aguardcolumn, analytical column, suppressor devices, conductivity detector, a postcolumnreagent delivery system (pneumatically controlled), a heated postcolumn reaction coil, and aultraviolet/visible (UV/Vis) absorbance detector. After separation and suppression of theeluent, the oxyhalide anions chlorite, chlorate, bromate>15.0:g/L and bromide are measuredusing conductivity detection. To facilitate low-level detection of bromate, the suppressedeffluent from the conductivity detector is combined with an acidic the determination ofbromate stability by external factors, high precision, bromate in tap water can meet the testingrequirements, easy to spread.
