90 20th century, the world's energy shortages, environmental pollution and resource problems have become more serious. Through the development of magnesium alloys, set off a global development and application of magnesium alloys. China has plentiful magnesium and rare earth resource, which provides a unique advantage in our study of magnesium alloy containing rare earth. The development of mixed rare earth magnesium alloy in the new century is very important. In this paper, the effect of mixed rare earth on the microstructure and corrosion resistance of Mg-9Al alloy were studied through tensile test, corrosion test, hardness test, X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and other methods.Mg-9Al-1Zn-0.5CeLa-XSr magnesium alloy were prepared by the high-pressure die-casting technique. The microstructure, formability, tensile properties strengthening phase, corrosion were studied. The results show as follows. The alloy has good formability, organized and meticulous uniform, no obvious casting defects. There are four major alloy strengthening phases Al11RE3 and A12RE, Al4Sr and Al2Sr. Tensile strength at room temperature can reach more than 230MPa. Vickers hardness can reach more than 55Hv. When add the 0.6% Sr, the alloy corrosion rate to a minimum. Comprehensive view, the addition of mixed rare earth alloy significantly improved the overall performance.Mg-9Al-1Zn-0.5CeLa-XSr alloys were researched and developed using cheap mixed rare earths. The outstanding advantages of the Mg-9Al-1Zn-0.5CeLa-XSr alloys compared with Mg-9Al alloy show as follows:More excellent mechanical properties, better corrosion resistance.
