Organic-inorganic hybrid compounds have been attracting considerable interest as a promising new class of materials that often have unexpected architectures, special characteristics, or even new synergetic functional properties in the complementary design of solid-state structures with different composites. Among the versatile building blocks, the Strandbergtype polyoxoanions have attracted much more attentions, not only due to their ability to link transition metal complexes in diverse coordination modes but also because of their chemical versatility-they can easily be modified at the molecular level by substitution of phosphate groups by organophosphate functions. More recently, the successful syntheses of some hybrid compounds holding 1D chains.2D layered structures, and 3D open networks have further inspired our research interest to construct the novel architectures based on this kind of polyoxoanions.
