Hydrogel formed by low molecular weight gelator has remarkable sensitivity to external stimuli and biocompatibility, and it has great potential application in the intelligent hydrogel, tissue engineering. In this thesis, we synthesized a series of complexes which included gemini surfactant and tartaric acid , ascertain these complexes whether could form hydrogel ,and the detail were further investigated . We had some innovation achievement, mainly include the following content:(1) Several gemini surfactants ( referred to Azo-C_n-2-C16-QAH, n=4,6,8,10 ) of ethylenediamine derivatives were synthesized ,which contained two hydrophobic chains of C16 and methylene chain terminated by an azobenzene group. The azobenzene groupe could show trans-cis change after photoirradiation, The results shows these gemini surfactants have photosensitive properties. Furthermore, a series of complex (referred to TM n) that composed by gemini surfactant and tartaric acid were synthesized and their gel performance were investigated in detail in water solution. we found that the complex which n=8 can form a stable gel in water. we also used SEM,XRD,1HNMR to investigate TM8. The SEM results show, the gelators can form ribbon structure and cross-linked and then formed the 3D mesh structure in aqueous, and the macro flow of water molecules was prevented and then form a gel. In the XRD studies, the XRD pattern of the gel shows periodical diffraction peaks, indicating that indeed assemble into an ordered structure. In the 1HNMR experiments ,the emergence of a new peak and intensity become more and more obvious about 3.1ppm and 5.7ppm with the increasing temperature. In low temperature, TM8 can form gel through the hydrogen bonding interaction in water, further improve temperature, hydrogen bonding of molecules were destroyed and the state of aggregation were change, eventually form the solution.(2) Because of trans-azobenzene can be well-recognized by a-cyclodextrin (a-CD) and a-CD cannot include the bulky cis form any more. Finally, the TM8 was mixed with an equivalent amount of a-CD,by subsequent alternation of UV and Vis irradiation, reversible sol-to-gel and gel-to-sol transitions were observed.
