In the last few years, human being's living is threatened with a serious pollution environment and increasingly insufficient resource. For this reason, energy saving and emission reduction has been increasing attention by people.In auto industry, using laser tailor-welded blanks is one of the important ways to mitigate these problems. The advantages of automotive bodies which used tailor welded blanks technology are lightening the weight, reducing fuel consumption, saving manufacturing cost, improving performance of cars and so on. Take car as an example, a liter of gas make a car driven one extra kilometer, if weight of the car can lighten one hundred kilograms. It is thus evident that, Lightweight of Automobile has developed into the main trend of global auto industry. Compared with traditional tailor-welded blank, the tailor-welded blank with curve welding seam has a better use effect. However, because of intricate irregular welding seam the deformability of tailor-welded blank was reduced. So, the non-uniform deformation behavior of tailor-welded blank has become the research priority by experts from domestic and external in these days.In this paper, the tailor-welded blank with curve welding seam has been studied about its formability, when the tailor-welded blank is in unidirectional tension. Parent metals have been welded using micro impulse laser, the welding technology parameters are studied and are optimized by orthogonal experimental, the experiment were conducted based on a three factor, three level of each factor.Curve welding seam is divided into finitely many beeline welding seams, specimens of the different angle between welding seam and tensile direction are used in the tensile experiment, and experimental data is summed up. The result shows that the formability of specimen is affected by location of welding seam and the angle between welding seam and tensile direction. The result is important in analyzing experimental results of tailor-welded blank with curve welding seam.Forming process of tailor-welded blank with curve welding seam is complex. The formability of tailor-welded blank with parabola welding seam has been studied in this paper. The study and experiment show that the formability of specimen parabola welding seam is affected by weld configuration and location of welding seam, it is weaker. So, it still needs to improve formability by rebuilding mould or building draw bead and other methods in actual punch process.
