1,6-Hexanediol is an important emerging fine chemical material and the international 1,6-Hexanediol market are in explosive growth in recent years. There is no domestic factory having the capability to realize the large scale production of 1,6-Hexanediol except the China Petroleum Liaoyang Petrochemical Company which has one set of industrial enlargement test equipment with independent intellectual property rights. As for the refining process of 1,6-Hexanediol, Liaoyang Petrochemical Company adopts distillation unit to purify 1,6-Hexanediol. This paper adopts Process Simulation Software PROâ…¡with PROVIVISIONTM to simulate the 1,6-Hexanediol project of Liaoyang Petrochemical Company with a annual production capacity of ten thousand tons. Because the raw material and technical process adopted by some foreign 1,6-Hexanediol production companies are not in conformity with domestic companies, which resulting in the difference of selection of separation process and composition of isolated material system, therefore no process engineering data about large scale production can be used as reference in the design. The paper can only provide fundamental research for the technological design of process manufacturers and designing department through combining the data measured by industrial enlargement test equipment and making simulative comparison by chemical engineering simulation software.In the simulation, refers to the analysis results of the industrial amplifying device for the composition of coarse components entered into rectification systemic system from synthesis section. After actual measurement of the parameters of some materials such as boiling point, density and etc., it shows that the measured parameters are inconsistent with the parameters in information; in order to make sure that the analogue result will be consistent with the practical situation, we changed the parameters of some components in PROâ…¡into actual measured values, and checked the rectification simulation and thermodynamic process according to the actual on site date. In addition, this paper also combined the process of Liaoyang Petrochemical Company with the actual parameters to carry out simulation comparison and parameter analysis of the process, including the column temperature, column pressure, component composition, reflux ratio and etc.According to the research in this paper and combined with the specific requirements of Liaoyang Petrochemical Company, we improved the rectification process of 1,6-Hexanediol on the basis of existing process and designed the 1,6-Hexanediol rectification system into double effect rectification system, proposed an new energy efficient process through optimizing the heat exchanger network and conducted analysis. Therefore the research of the paper provides a complete 1,6-Hexanediol rectification process framework software package.
