Pipeline leakage detection technology is a hot topic these days for researchers in petrochemical industry. Those domestic pipeline leakage detection technology for field application has been developed well but not perfect enough: power consumption of RTU based on IPC platform is too high, exceeds the requirement of some solar energy supply systems; IPC RTU is too large, and has poor portability; When the leaking monitor system operates under undesirable network condition such as wireless network or telephone network, there is more room for improvement for the real-time capabilities of network communication and the completeness of data transmission In order to solve the above questions, this article is introducing a pipeline leakage detection RTU based on ARM-Linux.It begins with introduction of Signal conditioning modules and mainboard which play an important role in RTU. The core part of ARM is used TQ2440 modules from Guangzhou Tianqian Company. Designing both signal conditioning module and mainboard are based on this TQ2440 modules. Signal conditioning module includes current/voltage conversion circuits, 8 channel multiplexer, High-Linearity Analog Optocouler and Analog low-pass filter circuits and so on, provide A/D converter with proper input voltage, significantly improve the overall performance of RTU. RTU mainboard is installed with various types of circuits, such as power circuit, GPS timing circuit, Ethernet Controller circuit, A/D conversion circuit and SD card interface circuit. This article provides information of designing drivers for RTU devices and application programs for servers. RTU runs as server, and monitoring PC as client due to the need of functions and network. RTU servers are not only capable of multi-tasking data collecting, data package processing, local storage and GPS timing, also create a sound platform for multi-user communication, achieve the goal of real time data transmission and data integrity. Finally, two RTU experiments are presented. The first one was to test average power consumption and maximum power consumption of the RTU prototype; the second one was to test real-time capabilities of network communication and completeness of data transmission of the RTU prototype. These two experiments provided a solid solution to the problems in previous discussed domestic pipeline leakage detection.
