Compared with ordinary steel plate, bimetal has great advantages. Because of itsspecial physical and mechanical properties, bimetal is playing a more and more importantrole in daily life and production.Bimetal can replace those precious metals, because it has the same quality orperformance with those precious metals. Take the stainless steel clad for example. In the21st century, the demands of stainless steel are increasingly high. The consumption ofstainless in the whole world is more than20thousand tons. In China, the consumption ofstainless steel is also increasing every year. With the rapid development of economy,some of the national economy's pillar industries such as chemical, petroleum, metallurgy,natural gas, pesticides and architectural decoration industries need more and morestainless steel. China's annual production of composite panels is about5million tons,while the market demand is about600thousand tons. We can see that stainless steel cladat home and abroad have a very broad market prospects.The traditional production method of stainless steel clad is rather complex, thispaper presents a new method of producing steel sheet with twin-roll casting, anddemonstrates its feasibility. At first we make a systematic study of the twin-roll steel platepool solidification and the heat transfer process, and then the heat transfer equation andthe boundary conditions for the analysis of slab solidification were determined, and thefinite element model was established. The solidification process was analyzed.The finite element software MSC.MARC is used to simulate solidification processof the slab in the pool. The temperature distribution of the slab in the pool was got. At thesame time, the location of the partition in the pool was determined and the heat transfer ofthe partition was analyzed. By this model, the influence of the parameters such as castingtemperature and the casting speed on the slab surface temperature and the position of thesolidification terminal were studied. The deformation of the bimetal in the rolling areawas analyzed. And the method to reduce the slab bending was proposed.
