Zinc and Cadmium complexes may take place of Osmium tetroxide,iridium, platinum complexes because of the low cost of their syntheses. In this paper eight metal complexes have been designed and synthesized by using H3pimda, H2bimdc, H4bdc, H2dpa, H2bdc. The molecular structures of these complexes have been determinated by X-ray single-crystal diffraction, IR spectra, elemental analysis. Among of them complexes 1, 2, 4, 6 are 0 D complexes, complexes 3, 5, 7, 9 are coordination polymers. The luminescence properties have been determinated by fluorescence spectrum and the photoluminescent quantum yield test.The molecular structures of 1 and 2 are similar,and they are all six coordinated and space group P-1 in triclinic system. Their luminescenct properties are determinated at room temperature in solution and the solid state. Though their molecular structures are similar, their luminescenct properties are different because of their different central metal irons.In the synthesis of 3, different organic acid and alkali are used to change its environment. Because of that, the N atom of the imidazole coordinate to the central meatl iron, and accordingly result in different structures ranging from 0D to infinite 2D networks. The ligand anion has two different coordination modes in complex 3 because of the coordination of the DMF molecules. Compared with the photoluminescent quantum yield of ligand, the metal complexes 13 is higher than the ligand.Two metal complexes have been synthesized by using H2bimdc. The molecular structures of 4 and 5 are determinated by X-ray single-crystal diffraction. The comlex 4 is a 0D complex, and the complex 5 is a 3 D coordination polymer. Compared with the photoluminescent property of ligand, these two metal complexes is higher than the ligand.Three metal complexes have been synthesized by using biphenyl carboxylic acid. X-ray single-crystal diffraction is used to characterize the molecular structures of 6, 7and 8. The comlex 6 is a 0D complex, the complex 7 is a 1 D chain coordination polymer and the 8 is a 3 D coordination polymer.
