With the improvement of our people living standards, the demand for beer consumption has been growing steadily. In order to meet the demand for beer consumption, our beer production is growing year by year. Brewery wastewater, if was not been properly treated, will cause serious damage to the environment water body. Yucheng a brewery treated brewery wastewater using advanced "Adjusting pre-acidification- external circulation anaerobic - biological contact oxidation" treatment process. After 3 months of this process operation, the treated effluent of brewery wastewater had achieved "discharge standards for the beer industry"(GB19821-2005) discharge requirements.This paper introduced the beer production process, the sources and the characteristics of the beer wastewater, and the development of beer wastewater treatment technology. Taking "Adjusting pre-acidification- external circulation anaerobic" process as an example, the principle of anaerobic biological treatment, the characteristics of biological contact oxidation, the topic source, the research content and meaning were all summarized. This paper is focused on the operation analysis of" adjusting pre-acidification- external circulation anaerobic - biological contact oxidation " in brewery wastewater treatment. The changes of the indicators during the start-up process and the relationship of several key factors which affect the effect of process operation were also discussed. The purpose of this paper is to optimize the commissioning scheme and determine the optimal operation parameters.Beer wastewater is a kind of industrial wastewater that contains high organic matter and can be easily treated by activated sludge process. If it was only treated by oxygen activated sludge process, it would lead to high energy consumption, large amount of sludge production and other shortcomings." adjusting pre-acidification- external circulation anaerobic - biological contact oxidation"treatment process is combination of anaerobic and aerobic activated sludge process. it has several advantages such as small footprint of fields, short startup time, well impact load resistance, stable operation ability, energy saving and less sludge production. The seed sludge of adjusting pre-acidification pool and external circulation anaerobic reactor is come from brewery digested sludge. The seed sludge of biological contact oxidation pool is come from aerobic excess sludge. The commissioning results show that biofilm was appeared in the filler of biological contact oxidation pool after 15 days. A small amount of anaerobic granular sludge was appeared in the external circulation anaerobic reactor after 30 days;. The total COD removal rate reached 98.4% after 60 days. While the effluent quality was met for the effluent standards. COD removal rate in the adjusting pre-acidification pool and the external circulation anaerobic pool were reached about 25% and 67.5%, respectively after 90 days, The adjustment goal was achieved.It is hoped that the results in this paper can play a reference role for beer wastewater treatment process adjustment.
